There are three little words that say just how much you care about your hair; Cut, Colour, Condition. At Artisan, they turn those words into actions every day. Precision cutting, creative colouring and superior quality treatments are the hallmarks of the business and their success.

Being located in Watford for over 30 years and now on Watford’s Lower High Street, Artisan’s flagship salon promises a warm welcome in cool, contemporary surroundings. Artisan’s unique and stylish interior is home to a crack team of creative talent and a great range of high-quality services and products.

Artisan’s team consists of 12 professional and Redken certified colourists who have all been trained in house. Having been voted for the BID Award of Service Excellence 2017, this team undoubtedly creates a friendly, warm atmosphere and puts your comfort first. The five-star rated hair salon welcomes Watford locals and clients travelling miles to attend a hair-do appointment.

However, Artisan is more than your usual Hair Salon due to the ethos behind the business which incorporates their selection and use of products and wider charitable contributions. Artisan donates the profit of all hair and beauty products they sell in house to charities like the Kidney Foundation, Peace Hospice and more, which last year equated to over £2,700.

No wonder they have also been awarded the “Sustainable Stylist Certificate” from their eco-friendly approach and Artisan Green Policy. The brands and stocks they use are conscious of that, in order to contribute to reducing their overall carbon and plastic footprint.

Artisan hair salon is a great example of one of Watford’s local small businesses to be proud of, which does amazing things for the community providing for the common good. This is one of the reasons why clients travel from across London for an appointment at Artisan, whilst Watford town’s recent development also helps to attract increased footfall through the door. As Ashley identifies: “Watford has got a cool vibe and a great nightlife. You can tell the difference to some years ago. People now don’t just come to do their hair, but if anything they make it an event to come to us and then go out in town and have fun.”

A few words from Visit Watford during Coronavirus

During these testing times, we all need to stay active and make compromises. We know that the reason you usually come to our channels is for a dose of inspiration and ideas on the very best ways to organise your visit or spend your free time across Watford.

Making a trip out of the house to explore over the coming weeks is not recommended by the government and we want you to stay safe and protect your loved ones. However, here at Visit Watford we are still committed to sharing with you everything that’s great about our town.

Thus, you may see some changes to the content we’ll be posting; with more of a focus on supporting our community, sharing a few things to look forward to, and providing a little distraction during times where you may be stuck indoors.

We’ll be championing Watford’s independent businesses, keeping you up to date with great stories from our community and continuing to share incredible photos from across the area which we hope will put a smile on your face – visit our social media channels for more.

Got ideas of content you’d like to see from us? Nominate your neighbour or friend as a local hero, if you think they deserve a special mention – we’d love to hear your story! Get in touch at or share it on social media & tag us/ use the hashtag #watfordlocalhero.

Stay safe,
