Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor has launched a borough-wide campaign ‘Shop Local, Shop Watford’ to highlight and support the wealth of excellent local businesses our shopping areas have to offer.

From popping into a local bakery for a cake, or buying a quirky gift from an independent shop, by shopping locally people can help local business owners and local communities get back up and running after the challenges of two periods of lockdown and restrictions.

Along with Watford town centre and High Street, there are a number of other diverse shopping areas in the town the initiative is supporting including: Watford Market, Queens Road, Whippendell Road, Market Street and St Albans Road which has recently undergone public realm improvements. Information and a listing of key traders can be found at visitwatford.com

Elected Mayor Watford Peter Taylor said “It’s vital, now more than ever, that we all do what we can to support our local Watford businesses. The past few months have been so difficult. Whether it’s your local grocer, florist or fabric shop, they all need our support so they can survive this crisis, and thrive in the future. These businesses are the heart of our community and we need them to still be there for us in the future.”

Shop Local Shop Watford is one of a number of active initiatives that Watford Borough Council is running in support of the local business community. These include the Business Recovery and Growth programme – a free business support initiative tailored to the needs of local businesses and residents across the town.
