Watford BID’s annual floral displays returned to the town centre in mid-June ready to blossom throughout Summer 2021.

Made up of a beautiful display of white, pink and purple shades of flowers, the displays will be in place throughout the Summer. This year, Watford BID has appointed a new horticultural company – Windowflowers – to provide its Summer flower displays. Windowflowers is a family owned and managed horticultural contractor, now in its 74th year. They are the market leader, supplying floral displays throughout the south of England and came with strong references from Winchester BID, Reading BID and Paddington BID.
The new providers offer a new style of planter added to the range in the form of a five-tired flower cascade. These ‘beehive’ style planters feature alongside the double stacked cubes, three tiered cascades, pole baskets on Queens Road and barrier baskets over the pond bridge and on the Town Hall subway. Troughs have been installed in the Civic Square to create a flower wall back drop to the area beside the library where Watford Borough Council has installed outdoor table tennis tables and the Mencap café will be opening soon.
The flower displays have also been installed along sections of the High Street currently closed to aid social distancing, these have been funded by Watford Borough Council.

It is important for the reputation of our town that we offer a welcoming, attractive environment that enhances people’s perception of Watford as a great place to visit, work, and live.”
The project is just part of the work Watford BID is doing to encourage people back into the town centre to support local businesses during these exceptionally challenging times. The floral displays will provide a wonderful backdrop for upcoming activities in the town centre such as Watford Food & Drink week and the Watford is Magic game, and Watford Council’s Big Beach. Watford BID was set up in 2016, after businesses voted on its creation in October 2015, and was again voted in for a second term following a ballot in February 2021.
