Let’s get active, Watford!

From 20th – 26th September, Watford Business Improvement District (BID) will run a range of activities, events and offers to get us more physically active, and dedicate more time to our mental wellbeing, via its new campaign to support the town centre, Wellness Week.

Visiting a local gym is one of the best ways to get active, and that’s why during Wellness Week, town centre gyms: Fitness4Less, NRG, and Watford Central Leisure Centre are offering free access to their gyms and a selection of their group exercise classes for everyone that signs up to the Wellness Week Gym Jump In programme. Those that sign up can also enjoy free swim sessions, 1-2-1 advice, a Boditrax scan and will be entered into a prize draw to win health & fitness goodies.

An outdoor group exercise event will take place on the events space on The Parade (located by the pond) on Saturday 25th September. Exercise classes – chosen to suit people of all levels of fitness – will be run by Physical Trainers from Fitness4Less, NRG and Central Leisure Centre, between 9am and 1pm, and include favourite workouts such as Zumba and spinning. The classes are completely free and no sign up is required, it’s just a fantastic way to get locals and even families together to try out fun and unique classes in the great outdoors!

There will also be healthy competition between Watford town centre businesses with the Wellness Week steps challenge. Town centre businesses may enter a team, and members will then compete to see which organisation can accumulate the most steps between 20th and 26th September.

Maria Manion, Chief Executive of Watford BID, said “Wellness Week demonstrates a great way that businesses in Watford town centre can collaborate to support one another whilst also offering a great range of ways for local residents and employees to look after their physical & mental wellbeing. It’s the first campaign that the BID has run dedicated to physical & mental health, we’ve created a campaign where everyone can be involved and we encourage everyone to get their friends, family and colleagues involved.”

Wellness Week is just one of many campaigns & projects being run by the Watford BID team to support town centre businesses and improve the Watford experience for residents, employees and visitors. The BID is funded by town centre businesses with the aim of enhancing the look & feel of the town, raising awareness of the town via marketing & events, and safeguarding the future of the town.
