Residents are being asked to share their views on Watford’s first draft Local Plan which sets out how Watford will develop up to 2036 with the right homes, infrastructure and employment opportunities that support growth.
Watford Borough Council’s Planning team have mapped the town into zones of high, medium and low sustainability in an effort to focus development where there are good transport links, infrastructure, schools and other facilities. The aim is to make the best use of the available land to deliver up to 7,500 new homes that meet the diverse needs of our growing population. Existing employment areas in the town will be protected and enhanced to create up to 6,800 job opportunities in the future.
Following the consultation, the draft Plan will be revised in line with the feedback received and will be published next Spring when residents and businesses again have a chance to provide comment. Then the final draft Plan will be submitted for examination to an independent inspector appointed by the Planning Inspectorate.
The first draft Plan is published today at www.watfordlocalplan.co.uk. The consultation is open until 8 November 2019.
